So I woke up at about 4am to my house shaking back and forth, back and forth. I thought it was a tornado and ran instantly to the window. (If there is anything I have learned from living in the midwest for the last nine years, it's that you should run right to a window in a tornado so that you can see it. Don't worry about shards of glass chasing your guts like the knives that flew around the old Tom & Jerry cartoons.) When I looked outside, the trees were still. Then my house started shaking again! The mirror was slamming against the wall. It was crazy. We ran downstairs and turned on the tv but all it told us was that an incredible new machine would make our abs flat faster than we can say,"was that an earthquake??!!"
It was! 5.2! I have an inspection and an appraisal on my house today and now I have an excuse for why it looks like it does. Something really did shake it!

Shelby,
You wanted something to happen to your house, but you it didn't have to wait until AFTER you have a contract and you spent all that time keeping it clean. :)
FYI: There was a lot of shakin' going on over here too.

Ha! Ha! Now you know what living in CA is like...only here, everyone just yawns and goes back to sleep!

You were the first family I thought of when I heard about the quake on the news. I noticed it was across the state from you, but heard it was felt in Wisconsin and down in some southern states as well. Glad no one got hurt and that it wasn't a tornado. Glass sticking out of you would make me lose my appetite!
I remember when we had an earthquake in Richmond but it was a 2. something or other. I ran outside wondering if I really just felt my house swaying back and forth or if I was just plain crazy but everyone else was standing outside their doors. Crazy stuff.
Glad you guys are okay! 5.2 is big for the midwest isn't it? Actually I don't think I've ever heard of an earthquake in the midwest.
